5 Promises of God for Those Who Trust Him
Jeremiah 17:7 says: “Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD.” (ESV) Although trusting God is easier said than done, the scriptures reveal that doing so has its benefits. In today’s video, learn 5 promises of God for those who choose to trust the Lord.
Did you know there are blessings that await those who choose to trust the Lord? Trusting does not mean only thinking God will keep His word, but acting like it and making decisions and moves as someone who knows God has your back. We don’t always get it perfect and sometimes operate in our own understanding instead of trusting God, but every day we receive new opportunities to place our trust in the Lord. When we do, there are 5 promises of God with your name on them.
1. DIRECTION & CLARITY
The first promise we receive from God when we place our trust in Him is direction and guidance from Him. Proverbs 3:5-6 says:
“Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make straight your paths.” (Proverbs 3:5-6 ESV)
Our understanding says we need to know exactly how things will work out before we can trust God, but the scripture says that we trust God first, and then He will make our paths straight. Then He will give us the clarity and direction that we need. When you don't know what next step to take, and you're uncertain about the leap of faith you are about to take, make sure that you choose to trust in God because it's then that you receive the promise of Him ordering your steps towards His ultimate purpose.
2. PEACE
The second promise we receive from God when we place our trust in Him is peace. Isaiah 26:3 says:
“You keep him in perfect peace whose mind is stayed on you, because he trusts in you.” (Isaiah 26:3 ESV)
Our minds have a way of spiraling out of control sometimes. Thoughts of worry and fear can take over and interrupt our peace, but when we choose to trust the Lord even when we can't clearly see how things will work out, the scripture says that God will keep us in perfect peace.
When we overthink and focus on our problems, we forfeit the peace that comes with trust in God. On the other hand, when we trust in God, our focus is on Him, and as our minds are stayed on Him, peace follows.
3. SECURITY
The next promise we receive from God when we place our trust in Him is security. Psalm 56:3-4 says:
“When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?” (Psalm 56:3-4 ESV)
When we place our trust in God and not in the things of this world, we then have the security of knowing that we are covered by God. When we feel attacked on all sides, and as if the world is coming against us, it's easy to put our trust in ourselves, in man, or resources to defend and protect us. But Psalm 118:8 tells us:
“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.” (Psalm 118:8 ESV)
And Psalm 146:3 warns us:
“Put not your trust in princes, in a son of man, in whom there is no salvation.” (Psalm 146:3 ESV)
Even more, Proverbs 11:28 says:
“Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will flourish like a green leaf.” (Proverbs 11:28 ESV)
Do not be deceived and think that your protection and provision come from anything man-made. Your salvation does not come from the authorities here on Earth or the riches and treasures that many spend their whole lives searching for. It is God who keeps you; He will not fail you.
4. VICTORY
As we trust in the Lord, He not only provides security but victory as well. Psalm 20:7-8 says:
“Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the Lord our God. They collapse and fall, but we rise and stand upright.” (Psalm 20:7-8)
overcome. Trusting in God gives you the power to overcome doubt, fear, and insecurity so that you can receive the abundant life that God has for you. A life of freedom, peace, and victory.
5. JOY
The next promise we receive from God when we place our trust in Him is Joy. Psalm 13:5 says:
“But I have trusted in your steadfast love; my heart shall rejoice in your salvation.” (Psalm 13:5 ESV)
Even when life is uncertain, when you trust that you are loved by God, your heart doesn’t just feel secure, but also the indescribable joy of knowing who you are: God’s Beloved.
